How to choose a POS for bakeries
A bakery combines quick sales, prepared products and advance orders. POS selection should distinguish selling an item from managing recipes, production and ingredients: not every platform includes both.
What to compare first
Define how you sell individual items, dozens and bundles. If using a scale, confirm its model and integration before purchase. For custom cakes, demonstrate deposits, pickup dates, remaining balances and receipts. Ask whether ingredient inventory requires a separate module.
Options to discuss
Clover is our preferred POS. This selection organizes alternatives by focus; it is not a quality ranking or a compatibility promise.
| System | Focus and consideration |
|---|---|
| Clover ★ | Clover combines point-of-sale hardware, payments and tools for restaurants, retail stores and service businesses. It is BestPOS PR’s preferred POS. That business preference does not mean it is the best fit for every operation. |
| Quantic | Quantic presents restaurant and retail solutions with inventory and reporting tools. Hardware, software and module options should be evaluated as a specific configuration. |
| Pecan POS | Pecan POS is aimed at restaurants. The manufacturer describes it as a hybrid solution: the database is stored locally and additional services use the cloud. |
A practical test before buying
Combine a dozen rolls, two coffees and a deposit for a future order. Check the receipt, balance and correct inventory adjustment.
Compare cost and support
Request an itemized breakdown of hardware, licenses, processing, installation, training and support. Check which tasks require an add-on app and who responds if an integration fails. BestPOS PR provides these services throughout Puerto Rico; support scope and hours are agreed in the quote.
